Plant Fair 2017
The annual Plant Fair took place on Milford’s Village Green on Saturday 20th May. Generally we were very lucky with warm sunny weather at 6am! Though it stayed dry all morning it did get cooler and windier as the morning progressed. This did not deter the gardeners as the Fair took £1462 for the Club and to this the Community Library gave us 30% of their takings to make a total of £1504 to be divided between our two local charities, Honeypot and the Barry Phillips Youth Trust. The Girl Guides sold refreshments, including delicious bacon butties, and also plants making a total for them of £308 – thank you everyone for your marvellous support.
In 2015 we celebrated our 15th Plant Fair – a cake was baked & decorated in the day’s honour. Members of the Club and exhibitors gathered round for the photo shot – afterwards the cake was cut & we all managed to have a large enough slice to remember the day by!
We visited RHS Wisley in May as we had been given another free affiliated club entry day. Having complained that our last visit in November 2016 was blighted with many paths closed and the new Conservatory not open due to maintenance, RHS were generous in allowing another free trip and this time the sun shone, and everything was open.
